"There is nothing better in the world than when you're about to step onto that field and get ready to play for 90 minutes. Whatever is going on in your life at that moment is left behind, so that you can focus on the sporting war that is about to happen. To me, that is a true spiritual awakening."
- David Ricca
David Ricca believes Soccer Is Life. It is a daily ritual to watch soccer, talk about soccer, and play soccer. There is nothing more thrilling and satisfying than being out on the field, connect-ing with people from all different cultures, backgrounds, and age groups.
During his professional soccer career, David was known for his speed, agility, and focused de-termination to succeed. Prior to the unfortunate tearing of his ACL, he played for the number three team in the nation, winning the 1995 New Jersey State Cup under esteemed Coach Fer-nando Rossi. He received a full scholarship to the College of St. Joseph in Vermont, where he played as a striker. David has also played with several A-League Teams in the New York Tri-State area, as well as the Falcons FC in New Jersey.
Following his entrepreneurial spirit, David wanted to integrate his expert knowledge of soccer, media, and business. In January 2010, he launched Just Live Soccer, a Full-Service Soccer Event Management, Talent Representation and Media Company. After having the honor of serv-ing on the 2010 FIFA World Cup (South Africa) Organizing Committee in the Media Department, his focus for Just Live Soccer changed to a more philanthropic organization. Giving out soccer balls to orphanages and homeless children who live in the streets of Cape Town, opened his eyes to the need and the opportunity to make a difference. “It was truly emotional to see the smiles on their faces. I cried every time,” says David.
So now it's Just Live Soccer's mission to provide the underprivileged youth with cleats, soccer jerseys and soccer balls, as well as free training clinics. David has since touched the lives of the youth as far as South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Guatemala, Nicaragua and India, as well as in the Tri-State area and Boston.
David is also very fortunate to have survived his evacuation from Tower Two during the tragic 9/11 attack and has been inspired to share his story throughout the nation. He regularly speaks to various audiences about his survival and how he has used soccer to help cope with the after-math.
Even though soccer is his life, David also has an extensive background in finance and business, as well as Marketing. He worked at Morgan Stanley and Smith Barney, specializing in Interna-tional Wealth Management, with a focus on South America and Europe, as well as in the Inter-active Marketing Department of CBS, covering the top radio markets. David has expertise in Marketing, Public Relations, Brand/Image Development and Business Management.
David is also proud to serve as an American liaison for Major League Soccer (MLS) and Soccer United Marketing (SUM) to all Latin American international soccer teams that play in the United States. He is also one of the hosts of Vuvuzela: The World Soccer Show.
